Kanoni & Mouse Island

Vlacherna Monastery and the Mouse Island have become the trademark of Corfu. Located in the suburb of Kanoni and just 14 km from Corfu Town, this is a must place to visit when in Corfu.

The area was named Kanoni (cannon in English) after the battery of artillery which was established by the French in 1798. In the sea below Kanoni, the Monastery of Vlaherna is situated (built in the 17th century) and linked to the mainland by a pier.

Directly across the Vlaherna monastery, the verdantly green Mouse Island (Pontikonisi) can be seen and visited with a small boat in just 5 minutes. The views of the planes landing in the airport are not to be missed.
